The New Jersey Section takes great pleasure in announcing the Annual Civil Engineering Awards. These awards are to recognize local members for their contributions to the Civil Engineering field. If you wish to nominate someone, please read the rules and criteria (below) and then complete a nomination form available at right, or in a recent copy of the Section newsletter.
The New Jersey Section accepts nominations for the following six award categories. Any nominations should be submitted to the President of the Section no later than January 31 of each calendar year of the award. These awards are to recognize local ASCE members and non-members for their contributions to the civil engineering profession.
Civil Engineer of the Year
The Section's highest award is presented to an individual who is judged to have contributed substantially to the civil engineering profession.
2017 Recipient: James Starace, PE - The Port Authority of NY & NJ
New Jersey Outstanding Civil Engineering Project of the Year
This award is presented for the outstanding civil engineering project recently constructed in New Jersey. The Award is presented to Project Owner, but the engineering design team and construction team will also be recognized.
2017 Recipient: Garden State Parkway Shoulder Restoration and Improvements
Service to the People Award
Presented to an elected or appointed government official who has contributed substantially to the statues of the civil engineering professional by their public service.
2017 Recipient: Mayor Richard Turner, Township of Weehawken, NJ
Government Engineer of the Year
This award is presented to an outstanding civil engineer in Government Service who has contributed substantially to the profession.
2017 Recipient: Bill Wilson, PE, NJ Turnpike Authority
Excellence in Management
Presented to honor a business leader in the civil engineering field.
2017 Recipient: David L. Richter, PE, Hill International
Young Civil Engineer of the Year
This award is presented to a young civil engineer who is judged to have contributed to the civil profession.
2017 Recipient: Masoud Janbaz, Ph.D., EIT, Rutgers Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation
Educator of the Year
This award is presented to an outstanding educator who has contributed substantially to the field of civil engineering.
2017 Recipient: Professor Xiang Liu, Ph.D., Rutgers University
